He was only a seasoned actor till the comedy show, Lollu Sabha happened. As an actor he marked his debut with 1985 releases - Naane Raja Naane Mandhiri and Chinna Poove Mella Pesu, and was later seen in Thalaivasal, Singaravelan, Udan Pirappu, Aaru, Sivaji etc. They together worked in the comedy show, Lollu Sabha too. He frequently collaborates with Santhanam as a comedian in Tamil films. It’s not surprising after the success of the show, most of its artists added ‘Lollu Sabha’ tag to their names, and most of them turned successful comedians on big screen later. Santhanam, Swaminathan, Lollu Sabha Jeeva, Lollu Sabha Balaji, Lollu Sabha Manohar and Jangiri Madhumitha gave recognition and a steady career in films to most of its leading artists. Though he was fully associated with film industry for more than 2 decades playing uncredited and less significant roles, he gained success and shot to fame with the TV show, Lollu Sabha aired on Vijay TV. He started his film journey in the mid-1980s playing bit roles onscreen. A full-fledged Tamil actor now, he has acted in about 50 movies apart from several television shows. He is known for playing comic and supporting roles on big screen and small screen. After the huge success of the show, Lollu Sabha, the tag got permanently added to his name. Swaminathan, best known as Lollu Sabha Swaminathan is one among the best finds of comedy spoof show, Lollu Sabha aired on Vijay TV during mid-2000s.
